    Early Admission to Kindergarten

    Description: Do you have a child under the age of five that you want to start school early? If your child was born between August 1st and October 31st, your child may be eligible for early admission to Kindergarten, click here to find more information. This is only available from January to April.

    Education

    Here are some resources that offer ESL Classes, GED Mentoring, and After School Tutoring.

    Doors to Hope
    ESL Classes, Computer Literacy, GED Mentoring, After School Tutoring, and Citizenship classes.

    Educational Justice
    This organization offers free tutoring to 5th-8th grade students.

    Adelante Hispanic Achievers
    This program is by invitation only. They offer mentoring, after-school tutoring, college readiness and college corps.

    Americana World Community Center
    After School programs, summer programs, Early Childhood Education, parenting classes, community workshops, ESL Classes, GED Classes, Citizenship Classes, Computer classes, and many other resources.

    Kentucky Refugee Ministries
    ESL Classes, citizenship classes, cultural orientation classes, elder program for refugees 60 and older, health and wellness classes, job development.

    Francis Center (Goldsmith)
    Free summer tutoring program to students in the Hikes Point and Buechel Neighborhood, they also offer a Kid’s Café that gives after school homework assistance and provides children with a nutritious dinner.

    JCPS Free Adult and Continuing ESL Education
    Morning and evening ESL classes for basic learning levels and for those who are on a more advanced level and want to continue their education to college. They also offer GED classes.

    15th District PTA PALS Resource Guide
    This is the Promoting Academic and Learning Support (P.A.L.S.) Resource Guide created by the 15th District Parent Teacher Association that offers information about academic support programs and more.

    Family Assistance Programs

    Family support programs, clothing assistance, and food assistance.

    Catholic Charities of Louisville
    Mother-Infant Care Program, Mama Matters program, parenting classes and some limited adoption services. They also offer food banks and community meals.

    15th District Parent Teacher Association Clothing Assistance Program
    This is the 15th District Parent Teacher Association Clothing Assistance Program. Here families can get all their clothing needs (including prom dresses, clothing for interviews and graduation) completely free of charge. They meet the clothing needs for everyone from infants to men sizes.

    Up Louisville
    This organization offers opportunities and encouragement for Women and Children who are homeless. They offer shelter, showers and laundry, support and life skills, and even offer case management.

    Career and Professional Development

    Career readiness, job orientations or training, and professional or career development.

    Jewish Family and Career Services
    This organization offers a career academy; career workshops, re-certification and re-credentialing, and they have a Navigate Enterprise Center, which helps you have the resources to start your own company.

    LLEO (Sarah Nuñes, Cultural Center UofL)
    The U of L Cultural Center offers many multicultural events but they also offer career and professional development workshops.

    Kentucky Manufacturing Career Center
    The Kentucky Manufacturing Career Center offers professional and job development for people who want to advance in manufacturing. They offer training courses, career fairs, and more.

    Metro United Way 2-1-1
    Metro United Way 2-1-1 program offers many resources but they also offer employment services, and career development services.

    Here are publications that help enrichen the Latin community, they give JCPS closing and cancellations and give JCPS updates.

    El Kentubano
    This is a publication for the Cuban and Latin community that gives updates, information on local businesses and growing entrepreneurs in the Latin Community.

    Medical

    Clinics, facilities or resources that can help you get medical or mental health attention at a free and/or reduced price.

    Park DuValle Community Health Center
    The Park DuValle Community Health Center offers patient care and medical attention, regardless of patients’ insurance status or ability to pay.

    Family Community Clinic
    The Family Community Clinic provides medical assistance to indiviuals without health insurance. They see both children and adults and have interpreters for those who speak Spanish.

    Neighborhood Place
    Neighborhood Place works with communities to provide blended and accessible health, education, employment and human services that support children and families in their progress toward self-sufficiency.

    Passport Health Plan
    Passport Health Plan is the medical insurance that is available to residents of Kentucky but is at an affordable rate.

    Centerstone Family, Therapy and Counseling
    Centerstone provides mental health, addiction and counseling needs. They also offer family counseling.

    Maryhurst-Renewal
    This program through Maryhurst offers counseling and family counseling to strengthen the relationship of the family.
